SCIENTISTS WORK TO GROW MEAT IN LAB:

Dr. Vladimir Mironov at the Medical University of North Carolina has been working for the past decade on growing "cultured" meat in his lab. Mironov believes cultured meat could help solve future global food crises resulting from shrinking amounts of land availability. Unfortunately for the doctor, the new National Institute of Food and Agriculture -- part of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration -- won't fund his meat-growing research. Mironov said, "We have to look to these ideas in order to progress. Otherwise, we stay static. I mean, 15 years ago who could have imagined the iPhone?" (Msnbc)
